About Carleton Place Positive Change Centre

In 2019, The Carleton Place Positive Change Centre is celebrating TEN years of serving, supporting and empowering our clients in Lanark County and West Ottawa!

Therapist/Owner Allison Adamovits M.S.W, R.S.W. is,

registered with and accreditted by, the Ontario College of Social Workers;

a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers and

the Canadian Association of Social Workers; and

a member of the Lanark County Collaborative Law Association.

Allisons' main mode of therapy is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, but she recently received her certification in E.M.D.R, a therapy specifically for treating Trauma of any severity, including PTSD. She also can use tools like meditation, visualization and the use of positive affirmations, to provide a more holistic experience.

With over 40 years experience, she provides professionally guided, but client directed therapy, providing supportive strategies to achieve the change you desire, in a comfortable, relaxed, confidential, safe environment.

Allison has special experience and expertise in offering counselling and support to individuals and their families who are dealing with a Cancer diagnosis.

Allison is also licensed as a Lay Minister in the United Church of Canada and can offer counselling from a Christian perspective, for clients requesting this.

As a practitioner, Allison is a wellness and empowerment expert; helping people who have experienced any level of distress, trauma and/or violence, to achieve renewed self-worth, emotional balance and security. She's really passionate about leading people who feel lost and damaged, back to health, strength and competence!

To that end you will find some differences in the CPPC Centre experience.

What's special about the CPPC Centre?

The Centre itself is not an office, its an apartment, chosen to increase the confidentiality and comfort of our clients.

Parents have the option of bringing their children, if they can occupy themselves in the play area, so that child care availability & cost is not a barrier to attending sessions. Mothers with nursing babies are welcome.

We offer a glass of filtered water, or a cup of tea/coffee upon request and limited kitchen facilities to warm a bottle.

Our full washroom is in the apt. not 'down the hall'.

Our parking is free and discreet.

Our signage is minimal and discreet for added confidentiality.

Our appointments are a full hour, not the usual 50 minutes.

Our one limitation, is that at present, we are not wheelchair accessible at our C.P. office.Clients needing full accessibility can be seen at or office in Smiths Falls hospital.

Our services are covered by major Insurance Companies (check your coverage).

We also offer Self-Esteem/Self-Confidence Building Workshops for women and Gr. 7&8 girls, upon request.

Allison is available to speak to your business group, club, class, or community group about current psycho-social issues, life-balance strategies, and parenting strategies.
